Face Tips
  • Avoid skin care products with irritating ingredients
    • Irritants such as alcohol or fragrance are drying and irritating, so try avoiding products with irritating ingredients. Click here for a list of common irritating ingredients.

  • Try a face oil

I personally love using Face oil. Not all of the oils can be applied on face because they can clog your pores, so it’s important to do some research before you choose one. It’s also important to test it out on a small area on your face when you’re first trying it out instead of applying it all over your face especially if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin.
    • One of the popular ones is Coconut Oil. It has many benefits and many people noticed it even helped with their acne but others have said it made it worse, so be very cautious.
    • Now moving on to face oils that are sold in stores as skin care products. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil is the most popular one. It also has a light version to it. I’ve personally used both of them and the original one was very moisturizing but it broke me out. As for the light one, it didn’t break me out but my skin still felt dry.

    • Finally I got Farsali Volcanic Elixir, which surprisingly didn’t break me out and it kept my skin moisturized. I really love this oil! I’d recommend it to anyone. Click here to read my review. I recently bought their Roseship Cleanser as well, so I will have a video up soon on both of them.
  • Apply an exfoliant once/twice daily or 2-3 times a week

Exfoliating Scrubs do exfoliate but only top layer of skin, so try using an exfoliant. It can really help reduce dryness and make your skin smoother.
  • There are two types: AHA or BHA exfoliant It’s well tolerated by all skin types and can be used once or twice daily but it really depends on your skin. If you notice it dries out your skin, then apply 2 to 3 times a week.
  • AHA is good for people with dry or sun damaged skin, while BHA helps with oily or acne-prone skin and sensitive skin.
  • BHA is also great for people struggling with rosacea because it has anti-inflammatory properties and it can help reduce redness. That’s why I use it and it has helped with my skin.
Here's a BHA exfoliant I'm currently using:

Don't forget to apply sunscreen:
Don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun even in the winter because snow and ice reflect 80% UV radiation. Apply sunscreen about 20 minutes before you go outside and keep reapplying especially if you’re going to be doing outdoor activities. Now if you’re just going to work or school, then you can definitely use a daytime moisturizer with spf 30, preferably. Also, don’t forget to protect your lips as well!

Lips
Exfoliate:
  • You can make your own scrub at home with olive oil and sugar (more sugar than oil). Olive oil is very moisturizing and sugar helps to remove dead skin.
  • e.l.f. Lip exfoliator is affordable and works well! It costs $3 USD. I couldn't find it at my local Target, so ordered it online.

  • Lush Mint Julips retails for $9.95 and it's a great lip scrub but it's quite messy.
  • Sephora Collection Super Nourishing Lip Balm

Lip masks:
  • Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is amazing! I love applying it almost every night during winter. It gives me an instant relief! Click here for my review.
