Kylie Lipstick vs huda beauty Lipsticks

I decided to compare Kylie Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks to Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks since I noticed few shades looked similar to each other. They're hyped up and hard to get hold of but Huda Beauty products are more accessible. I couldn't find exact dupes but there were some shades that were similar.
Similarities
  • Scented: They're both scented. Kylie Lipsticks have a vanilla scent to it but Huda Beauty lipsticks have a different scent. I personally prefer the scent on Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks.
  • Application: They both apply like a gloss and dry down to a matte finish.
  • Matte
  • Packaging: Kylie Lip Kits come in a box with lips dripping in the same colour featured on the side of the box. Huda Beauty lipsticks also come in a box with a transparent cover that slides open. She also has the color featured on the lips and on the sides.
Differences
  • Size: Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks contain 0.11 oz of product, which is less than Huda Beauty Lipsticks (0.17 oz)
  • Price: Kylie Cosmetics Lipstick retails for $17 USD and Kylie Lip Kit retails for $29 USD (lipstick & lip pencil). Huda Beauty Lipstick retails for $20 USD.
  • Packaging: While Kylie Cosmetics lip kits come with lipstick and matching lip liner, Huda Beauty lipsticks are sold individually and don't have matching liner to all of the shades.
  • Formula: Huda Beauty lipsticks appears smooth and are less drying than Kylie Lipsticks but they aren't as opaque as Kylie Lipsticks. Also, Huda Beauty lipsticks feel more tacky.
  • Accessibility: Huda Beauty products are sold on her website, Sephora, Harrods, so they're more accessible than Kylie Cosmetics products, which are only sold on her website.
  • Shipping: Huda Beauty offers free worldwide shipping on orders above $75 on her website, while Kylie Cosmetics charges a flat rate of $8.95 to U.S and $14.95 International. UPDATE: Kylie Cosmetics now offers free shipping on orders above $40 (Domestic) & $60 (International).

Bombshell vs Koko K
BombshellSubtle Pinkish Nude   |    Koko KPale Pinky Nude
Although they're both described as pinkish nude, these are not the same. Bombshell appears a bit peachy pink. I prefer Bombshell.
 __________
Venus - Deep Taupe Brown     |    Candy K - Pale Pinky Nude
Venus is brown nude, while Candy K is pink nude. I personally love the shade Candy K more.
__________
FlirtCheeky brown   |   Dolce K - Medium Beige Nude
I prefer Flirt, which is slightly deeper than Dolce K.
 __________
Trophy Wife  vs Posie K
Trophy Wife - Rose Wood   |    Posie KDusty Mauve Pink
Both of these shades appear similar on the lips except Posie K is a bit lighter than Trophy Wife.
 __________
Venus - Deep Taupe Brown   |   Dolce K - Medium Beige Nude
I prefer Dolce K is deeper and more brownish than Venus.

How to use nose strips?
Check out my video for a quick demo. This was my first time using them and they were quite easy to use.
  1. Each strip is individually packed with the steps listed on them. Remove the strip from pouch.
  2. Twist strip to loosen and separate slits.
  3. After washing your face, thoroughly wet your nose (strip won't stick to dry nose).
  4. Dry hands and peel strip off plastic liner.
  5. Apply to nose area, smooth side down, pressing down to ensure good contact with skin.
  6. Let dry for about 10-15 minutes until stiff to touch. I noticed that it started to become tight onto skin.
  7. Slowly and carefully peel off starting from edges, pulling towards center. You might get some residue and it comes off if you rinse. I just wiped it with wet tissue paper and it came off easily.

First Impressions
I personally felt like these didn't really do much (see comparison photo below). I do use Clarisonic on a daily basis and I feel like my pores aren't that unclogged, so that's probably why I didn't notice much of a difference. It was a bit painful to remove and my nose became red. However, the redness went away. I've tried the original ones long time ago but don't remember if those were effective but few people commented on my video saying that the original ones are better. I don't think I will buy them again after using the other strips but I'm planning on getting the original ones.

How to apply nude lipstick + Favorite MAC lip combo

Here's a quick tutorial on how to apply nude pink lipstick and my favorite lip combination using MAC products. I always struggled to pull of a nude lipstick but that all changed when I changed few things hehe Hopefully this video will help you out especially if you have pigmented lips or Indian/Pakistani/Medium/Olive/Brown Skin. For shade reference, I'm NC40-NC42 in MAC.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks Swatches & Review

Each lipstick retails for $20 USD ($26 CAD) and contains 0.17 oz (6.5 g) of product, which is a bit more than a lot of lipsticks out there that usually contain about 0.11 oz of product.

UPDATE: New video with swatches of all 12 shades & 11K Subscribers Giveaway (ends March 3rd 2017).

Check out my video for review and lip swatches of 5 shades (Bombshell, Venus, Flirt, Trophy Wife and Spice Girl):
I also compared Huda Beauty Lipsticks to Kylie Cosmetics Lipsticks on my channel:

I love the packaging! It comes in a box that slides open just like her lashes do but the front is transparent so you can clearly see the lipstick and the shade is also featured on the lips.

The shades along with their names are also featured on the sides of the boxes.
It comes with a doe-foot applicator that makes it easy to apply.

Shades Swatched
I got 5 shades from Sephora for now but the full collection will be available in October, so will pick up few more including Trendsetter.
  1. Bombshell subtle pinkish nude
  2. Venus deep taupe-brown
  3. Trophy Wife rose wood
  4. Flirt cheeky brown
  5. Spice Girl an iconic 90s brownish mauve
Here are arm swatches of all 5 shades (Bombshell, Venus, Flirt, Trophy Wife and Spice Girl). For shade reference, I'm NC40-NC42 in MAC.

 __________
Bombshell - Subtle Pinkish Nude
Usually I do have to pair lip liners with nude lipsticks especially lighter shades to make it work for my skin tone but surprisingly I didn't have to do that with this one. It's such a beautiful shade!

 __________
Venus Deep Taupe-Brown
Unlike Bombshell, I do feel like I need a lip liner to pull this one off but I still like it.
icon
 __________
Trophy Wife - Rose Wood
This is my favorite from the bunch and there's no surprise there since these shades complement my skin tone well. I'd definitely recommend this one to anyone because I feel like it would complement all skin tones.

There's also her lip contour pencil in Trophy Wife and they're exactly the same. Here are swatches of Huda Beauty Lip Contour Pencil Trophy Wife (left) and Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick Trophy Wife (right).
__________
Flirt - Cheeky brown
This one is my least favorite because I feel like it's a bit more cool-toned and I find it doesn't complement my skin tone if I were to use it on its own. However, I'm planning on pairing it up with a darker lip liner.

 __________
Spice Girl - iconic 90s brownish mauve
I really love this one!! It's such a gorgeous shade that I'd personally wear in fall/winter.

Review
I'm quite impressed with the formula of these liquid lipsticks because they're lightweight, non drying and comfortable on the lips. I also have Huda Beauty Lip Contour Pencils, which are drying but these are comfortable on the lips. I find these are some of the least drying liquid lipsticks that I own. These last long on the lips (about 5-6 hours) but they start to slightly fade away towards the center when I eat. These lipsticks are pigmented but not as opaque as I wish they were.

Application: These apply like a gloss but dry down to a matte finish in about 30 seconds. I just wish it was a bit more opaque because I felt like I had to build up the color but I like how I can build up the color or even mix in the lipsticks and I still get a smooth application.
Scent: These do have a scent to them, so keep that in mind especially if you are sensitive to products that are scented. Stila, Sephora and Kylie liquid lipsticks have similar vanilla scent to them but these have a different scent, which I can't really describe.
Pros:
  • Pigmented
  • Smooth and easy application: These apply smoothly and evenly.
  • Matte: These apply like a gloss but dry down to a matte finish.
  • Lightweight
  • Non Drying
  • Long Wearing : These last on my lips for 5-6 hours but they do slightly fade away. when I eat. However, I like how these fade away beautifully and don't leave a film on the lips.
Cons
  • Minimal transfer: These do slightly transfer even after being completely dry
  • Not too opaque: I just wish these were more opaque

Shade Reference: MAC NC42, Indian/Pakistani/Brown skin/tan skin
