MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation Review

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation retails for $28 USD ($33 CAD) and contains 1oz of product. It's medium coverage foundation with a natural matte finish that's best suitable for oily/combination skin. It's available in 42 shades. I got the shade NC40 and I think it's a good match but it's a bit warmer for my skin tone. Also, keep in mind the foundation oxidizes, so I'd recommend testing out the foundation before buying it.
Product Claims
  • Natural Matte Finish
  • Medium to full coverage
  • Oil-controlling
  • Minimizes appearance of pores and imperfections
  • Long wearing
Check out my video for demo, review and 9-hour wear test:
  • Finish: Natural Matte
  • Coverage: Medium buildable
  • SPF 15
  • Application: I wish it came with a pump because without it, it can be a bit messy. However, the foundation applies beautifully especially with a beautyblender. I don't really like building it up too much though because it can easily end up looking cakey.
  • Wear time: I tested it out for about 9 hours and it did fade away throughout the day but still looked good. I have combination skin (oily t-zone) and I noticed I didn't get too oily with this foundation and didn't feel the need to touch up. However, I'd still recommend setting it if you have oily skin and you might need to touch up during the day depending on how oily your skin is.
  • Skin type: It's best suitable for people with oily/combination skin

  • Long wearing
  • Good coverage
  • Lightweight
  • Photographs well

  • Oxidizing
  • No pump

Overall, I think it's a good foundation especially if you oily/combination skin. I like how well it lasts throughout the day and doesn't make me look too oily. I prefer applying it with beautyblender because it gives me a flawless, smooth application whereas the brush can easily make me look cakey. I just wish it came with a pump! Also, the shade range is good but the foundation does oxidize, so it can be a little tricky to find the right shade. I'm happy I got NC40 and even though it's slightly warmer for my skin tone, I can still make it work especially in summer. This has become my go to foundation for work but I need to purchase a pump soon.

Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipsticks

Each lipstick retails for $20 USD ($25 CAD) and contains 0.08 oz of product. It's an ultra-matte liquid lipstick that is claimed to be pigmented, long wearing, lightweight and comfortable on lips.

Check out my video for lip swatches of three shades:

It's available in 6 shades:
  1. 101 Cream Beige
  2. 103 Warm Beige
  3. 105 Rosewood
  4. 107 Neutral Beige
  5. 109 Praline
  6. 203 Cold pink

Make Up For Ever sent me three shades: 103 Warm Beige105 Rosewood 109 Praline.

Here are arm swatches of all shades (for shade reference I'm around MAC NC40-NC42):

103 Warm Beige
I like this one but I'd definitely need to pair it up with a lip liner to make it work for my skin tone.

105 Rosewood
I also feel like I need a lip liner with this shade to make it work for my skin tone.

109 Praline
This one is my favorite from the bunch. It complements my skin tone and I can wear it on its own and don't need to pair it up with lip liner. I love it!

I love the formula of these liquid lipsticks! They're lightweightnon drying and comfortable on the lips. The doe foot applicator makes it so easy to apply! They do last throughout the day but just like most liquid lipsticks, they do start to fade away especially when you eat greasy food. However, they do fade away beautifully and you can easily reapply.
  • Matte
  • Pigmented
  • Smooth and easy to apply
  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable on lips
  • Non drying
  • Long wearing
  • Very Minimal transfer
  • Easy to apply
  • Emphasizes lines on lips
